Raw Consultation Notes

Okay so Miss O'Neill is here with Ada, a 5-year-old Golden Retriever. She's been limping on her right hind leg for about a week. Seems worse after walks. No obvious trauma. On examination, she's bright and alert, maybe a bit tender on palpation of the right stifle joint. There's some mild swelling. I can feel a bit of a drawer sign. Temp is normal. Heart and lungs sound fine. My gut says it's likely a cruciate ligament issue. Plan is to get some radiographs to confirm. I'll prescribe some pain relief in the meantime, probably Metacam. Need to tell Miss O'Neill to rest her, no off-lead walks for now. We'll follow up in a week after we see the X-rays.
